In the beginning...
Inspired by the recent success of my mother's CarePage, and the realization that my upcoming adventures may make it difficult to stay in touch, I've determined to break down the long-distance barriers and make my long-awaited entrance into the world of electronic diaries...ahem...blogging.
As for the namesake? Doctor Detroit owes its origins to the 1983 classic in which Dan Akroyd plays a college professor turned pimp. For those of you who haven't delved into the darkest chapters in Dan Akroyd's acting career, believe me, a gem awaits you. The connection originally came from my short-lived but critically acclaimed theatrical debut as "Pimp" in Andover High School's production of Les Miz (no, I haven't let that go yet), but has since become an amalgamation of occurrences that have marked the life and times of your humble author.
Join me as I chart my way through Central America, medical school, and beyond.
First stop: Guatemala.
They have the internet there right?
Kidding.
But they do right?

We (Alex,me and poppy) went to see Noah last weekend. He looked great and was happy to see us.His school is pretty remote, but he doesn't have to ride a chicken bus to get there. Poppy says hi and be careful. I'm waiting for some more pictures. Love Aunt Ellen
